Neighbors in the Old Northeast and surrounding neighborhoods joined together in 2015 to support North Shore Elementary, which was then a Title I school with a letter grade of D. We are parents of preschool children who want great education for all children. Our response to the current public education challenges is to engage, be part of the solution, and we have learned that key to "raising the vibration" of public school is teacher morale and supporting their ideas to make their classrooms thrive

Money raised in this Give Day (and via any other means!) goes directly to the teachers and their classrooms. Friends of North Shore started a "Classroom Boost" program in 2016, providing $1500 per classroom. We have completed Kindergarten, 5th and 1st grades. We have 2nd, 3rd, 4th, Music, PE, and Art to go. Teachers have used the funds for new clasroom gathering rugs, new learning centers specific to their students learning needs, technology to support learning and a variety of learning materials they have wanted, but just haven't had the funds to purchase. Please give to help us achieve these Boosts!

In addition to Boosts, Friends has supported the start of Recess, Spanish, Uniforms, Mentors, materials for School Tours, Field Trips, a $500,000 renovation set to start this summer, Yoga, Drama and MakerSpace.  If you would like to get involved with the school in any way, please contact us at info@fnse.org and we would be pleased to facilitate your engagement.

Thank you for your support!
