Friends of Radnor 284

A nonprofit organization

Recognizing the importance of educating young minds about nature,
leadership and scouting, Friends of Radnor 284, Inc., a 501c3, was formed
with the express purpose of acquiring a land parcel in Radnor Township for use
by Radnor Troop 284.  The purpose of Friends of Radnor 284, Inc. is
the encouragement and promotion of Scouting as well as the preservation of open
space in Radnor Township, PA.

In 2014, the Friends of Radnor 284 (FoR284) was formed as
a non-profit entity with a plan to purchase and restore the historic one room
schoolhouse, (affectionately referred to as “The Cabin”), as the Troop’s
forever home for meetings and group activities.

For
generations, The Cabin has been a place where Scouts step away from the
everyday into adventure.  It’s where they
learn leadership, teamwork, and resilience.

It’s
where they challenge themselves, build confidence, and form lifelong
friendships.

The
Cabin is more than a meeting place – it’s a foundation for growth, character,
and unforgettable experiences.

Established as a dedicated space for Scouts to learn with a proud tradition of outdoor education, adventure and personal growth.

FoR284 Commitment to Scouting

By improving the space and conserving the property, we have access to a
priceless outdoor classroom for our boy and girl led Scout troops to learn and
grow and where they hone their survival and scouting skills, discover how
nature and conservation impact our local society and build a community of
scouts that will transcend generations.

We are dedicated to maintaining and improving this
property to ensure it remains a safe, accessible, and inspiring space for all
Scouts – today and for generations to come.
Ongoing efforts include:

·
Maintaining the facilities to
provide a safe and welcoming environment

·
Investing in infrastructure
improvements such as restrooms, energy and conservation projects

·
Expanding programming
opportunities to keep Scouts engaged with new challenges

"At the Cabin, I built lifelong relationships, learned what it meant to be a leader, and, honestly, just got to be myself.  No pressure, no distractions - just Scouts, adventure, and a lot of laughter.  This place helped shape me into the Eagle Scout I am today."
