More than Just Space – 2024 NSGT Goal $2,000 to purchase a new hands-on exhibit!
Introducing Interactive Magic: Color Touch Wall!
Help Us Create an Interactive Experience Like No Other! Imagine a wall that bursts into vibrant colors at the touch of your hand—a mesmerizing, magical experience that blends science, art, and play. With your support, we’re excited to bring this interactive liquid crystal wall display to life for visitors of all ages to Schreder Planetarium!
What Is It?
This unique exhibit will feature a large wall of liquid crystals that change color with the warmth of your hand. When visitors touch the wall, they create swirling, beautiful patterns as the liquid crystals react to body heat. The colors gradually fade away, inviting them to explore again and again!
Why Is It Important?
How You Can Help?
We need your support to make this one-of-a-kind exhibit a reality. Your donation will help us create an experience that inspires a sense of wonder and creativity in our community. Together, we can bring this colorful vision to life!
Additional funds beyond our goal will enable us to expand our impact and support future projects aligned with our mission.
Thank you NSGT donors
NSGT donations have supported the purchase of seven shows in the last five years. We have expanded our collection to better meet the needs of students and is vital to the mission of Friends of Schreder Planetarium. The Director of Science Programs, Nathan Fairchild, is maintaining the 45 year history of providing outstanding educational experiences for students. Pre and post show lessons are designed for teachers providing instruction for students who attend shows at the Planetarium. The curriculum is tied in with classroom activities that encourage thinking and problem-solving and align directly to the California Science Standards.
Friends of Schreder Planetarium
The Friends of Schreder Planetarium (FoSP) is a nonprofit group that supports the planetarium with funds and volunteers, including operating the gift shop. In 2019 the FoSP helped fund a new projector - a major improvement in content, quality, and delivery. To be a Friend of the Planetarium just roll up your sleeves and bring your own talents and enthusiasm! Most volunteers help with evening programs by checking in guests or working in the gift shop. Some are Board members and some have unique skills in technology or education. If you would like to be a part of this exciting work and join the Friends of the Planetarium or call (530) 245-4580, or email info@FriendsOfSchrederPlanetarium.com The FoSP holds quarterly meetings. Please join us for our next meeting on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025, at 6:30pm at the Planetarium.
