According to cancer.gov, in 2021, it is estimated that 15,590 children and adolescents ages 0 to 19 will be diagnosed with cancer and 1,780 will die of the disease in the United States. Having a child being treated for cancer can feel overwhelming for any family. That's why, since 2003, The Friends of Scott Foundation has been committed to its mission of helping children with cancer and their families by providing the emotional, financial and social support they need to help them cope with this disease.

Scott Delgadillo was diagnosed with cancer when he was 13. He fought with all his heart and soul for a year before he passed away at 14 years of age from this devastating disease. It was at that time that his friends and his mother, Carmen, created the Friends of Scott Foundation in his memory to help those children learn how to cope each and every day.

Throughout the year, the Foundation hosts special events for kids and families that create lasting, happy memories- just a few hours of fun when they don't have to think about the hospital or their next treatment. Donations and support goes directly to our programs and annual events which include:

The Annual Unforgettable Prom for Teens with Cancer- This magical evening is in it's 14th year, and brings an evening of fun, food and entertainment for teens who are unable to attend their own proms. Please watch the video below and see why it's our signature event

Scotty D Scholarships -  This program offers funds to help with that transition and ease stress on the families as their teens go off to college!

Padres Day at the Park - This very special day features a day at Petco Park where kids can take in a baseball game and enjoy hot dogs and pretzels together and meet the Friar and players!

Holiday Party and Gift Giving -  We help celebrate with the kids by sponsoring a Holiday party with gifts that make their Holidays special.

Pajama Drive -  Hospital beds, treatment rooms, there's nothing like a wonderful new pair of pajamas to make a child smile!

Special Dreams Project - our version of Make A Wish, we can help make a memorable day filled with love for kids with cancer and their families.

Dia Del Los Ninos Children's Carnival- Carnival games, prizes, food, clowns- every year, this event brings smiles and fun to everyone!

Bundles of Love-  these packages are made special for children in treatment and their families staying  at the Ronald McDonald House San Diego and provide fun things to do while in treatment- games, books, puzzles, coloring books, gift cards and more!

What can YOU do to make a difference in the lives of kids and teens with cancer? Take the first step and join us in raising the much needed funds to continue our great work in the community!
