Friends of the Dallam-Hartley County Library

A nonprofit organization

The Friends of the Dallam-Hartley County Library is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our local library by providing funds and programs that would not otherwise be possible.

Great things are happening at the Dallam-Hartley county library as they seek to bridge the digital divide across the community and expand early literacy skills. Throughout the course of the year the library has around 13,000 patron visits with more than 4,000 of those visits happening in the summer months alone. Around 12,000 items are circulated each year, and they provide internet and computer use free of charge. Many patrons utilize technology services to access and apply for health insurance benefits, conduct job searches, apply/interview for jobs, as well as attend virtual court hearings.

As we prepare to participate in our first ever Panhandle Gives week, we are excited to see what we can all accomplish together. Your donations will help purchase new library materials including electronic or Vox books, purchase hotspot devices that patrons can check out to enable them to have internet access at home, and expand library services. Additionally, we are looking to the future to grow our community outreach through a bookmobile that can travel to our Channing, Texline, and Hartly communities.

The friends of the library board is comprised of community members who are passionate about the library. We are always seeking new members and we invite you to get in touch with us if you have passion and ideas to share.
