The Friends of the Folsom Library was originally formed in 1993 to raise funds to open a new public library in Folsom after budget cuts resulted in the closing of the existing Folsom branch of the Sacramento County library.

Fast forward to today, with the Folsom Public Library now well established as the most visited library in Sacramento County, the all-volunteer Friends still work diligently to supplement the Library's annual budget, enabling them to provide a wonderful array of free programs and services for people of all ages in our community.

The Friends help make possible such programs as the Summer and Winter Reading Challenges, book clubs, and the My First Library Card program, as well as contribute each year to the purchase of new materials for the Library's physical and digital materials collections.  The Friends also provide funding as needed to meet specific Library needs such as for new computers, new furniture, and more.  One of the most recent such contributions was for a new projector in the Library meeting room, which is used not only for community presentations but also for movie screenings as part of the free programming put on by the Library.
