Since 1839, the Jefferson County Public Law Library (“JCPLL” now, but then the Louisville Law Library Company) has connected people to the law through education. Whether you are a licensed attorney, an aspiring law student, a high school moot court team, or an everyday citizen with a case you’re handling on your own – the JCPLL has been there. In 2024, JCPLL maintains its mission to make the law accessible for everyone because we know that our legal system – from the US Supreme Court to 600 W Jefferson Street – works best when all citizens have the resources they need to understand the law and have fair representation.

The Friends of the Jefferson County Public Law Library group was organized in 2016 to raise funds and otherwise provide support to JCPLL.  The Friends group aims to promote the mission of JCPLL and to inform the public about the resources available to them through continued programming, events and financial support of the law library's mission.  Please help the Friends of JCPLL continue to grow!

Who We Are

The Friends of the Jefferson County Public Law Library is organized to raise funds and otherwise provide support to JCPLL in order to further its mission of providing the community with a current collection of legal reference materials based upon the belief that access to knowledge and information is essential to the promotion of justice and respect for the law.
