Nestled in the heart of the scenic Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, Easthampton’s Manhan Rail Trail offers unique recreational opportunities to people of all ages and interests.

Bike, jog, roller blade, cross country ski or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll on what was once a viable rail corridor. The first section of the 6 mile (off-road) paved trail was completed in 2003 after 10 years of planning and fundraising.

A second section opened in the spring of 2011 and a third section the following year.  The Manhan Rail Trail is a vital link in a network that will eventually connect nearby Northampton, Massachusetts to New Haven, Connecticut.

Since its opening, the trail has proved to be wildly popular and consistantly draws visitors from out of town.

But like most nonprofits, we struggle to raise funds for trail maintenance and improvements. With the support of the public, and local businesses, the Friends of the Manhan Rail Trail organization has raised money for benches, signage, landscaping, historical markers and other improvements.

Maintenance issues such as removing tree roots, cutting back brush and removing downed trees following storms, also require money as well as many volunteer hours.

We hope that you have an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Manhan Rail Trail and please consider contributing to this wonderful cause.
