The Friends of the Roxbury Library was founded in 1989 to support and promote library services and activities. The Friends raise money to supplement the library budget through regular used book sales at the Hodge Memorial Library (4 North St.), a yearly membership campaign, and special events.
While the Library Board of Directors maintains the library building and staffing, the Friends provide the library with books, DVDs, audio books, e-books, museum passes, hospitality for the art show receptions, and funding for children’s and adult programs. Indeed, our “Friends” help make our library a very special place!
Who are the Friends?
-The Friends of the Roxbury Library is an independent non-profit group that provides support for library materials, programs, and more.
-With very few exceptions, all of the books, movies, audiobooks, museum passes and programs (for adults and children) are provided by the Friends.
-Last year, the Friends purchased almost 1400 items for the library, and hosted over 150 programs.
