Friends Of The Soldiers Home In Holyoke

The Friends of the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke, Inc. (Friends)  supports programs and services above those budgeted by the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke by seeking gifts, bequests and grants.

The Friends provides funding to the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke through our Quality of Life Program (QLP) and Technology Upgrade Program (TUP).

The QLP helps support the Recreation Department at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke too create a seven-day a week schedule of stable, stimulating activities and programs as a senior service specially designed to meet the interests, needs and abilities of the 280+ elderly veterans at the Home.  Programs include exercise, recreational, social, literary, educational, creative, intellectual, spiritual, holiday and birthday celebrations to meet the veterans’ needs at all functional levels.

The TUP helps support the purchase of needed equipment for the Home above what is budgeted by the Soldiers’ Home.  Through generous donations and grants the Friends has been able to purchase Optometry/Ophthalmology Equipment, Podiatry Chair, High-low Power Exam Tables and Diagnostic Wall Mount Systems for the Outpatient Department at the Home.  Friends has also supported the purchase of an Automatic Wheel Chair Washer, Bath Equipment, Whisper Glide Swings, Therapeutic Rockers, Barber chair and much more to improve the quality of life for the veterans at the Home.
