A Story of Growth within our Community!

Village Library, located at 35-C North Main Street in Jacobus, PA, began as the Springfield Township Mini Library on December 13, 1980. Initially operating from a renovated bread truck, it was located on the property of Godfrey Bros. Meats.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the York County Library System (YCL) expanded to serve previously unserved areas leading to the establishment of the Village Library. Over the years, the library has evolved, moving from the truck, to a small storage unit next to Smith Village, and finally across the street into the shopping plaza adjacent to Rutter's. In this plaza, we have grown from our original one storefront to our spacious facility occupying five storefronts. This expansion has allowed Village Library to offer a wide range of amenities, including a centralized location, free parking, children's story times and crafts, teen and adult programs, family events, books, movies, eBooks, audiobooks, tech and games, hands-on kits and STEAM materials. It is our pleasure to welcome you and serve you!

Your support of the Village Library ensures everyone in your community has a part in the story. Thank you for your gift!
