Friends of the Amargosa Basin

A nonprofit organization

Supporting the Diversity of Life in the Amargosa Basin by Protecting its Land, Water and Beauty.

Friends of the Amargosa Basin, a nonprofit organization with 501c3 status, was incorporated with the primary goal of achieving National Monument status for public lands of the Amargosa Basin, an area between Death Valley National Park and the Mojave National Preserve. Although this durable protected status is the primary goal, the organization is also an advocacy organization dedicated to protecting these lands, and the communities that rely on them, in the face of immediate threats for the benefit of future generations.

Testimonials

My favorite part about volunteering with FAB is the opportunity to immerse myself in the desert. The desert is a magical place, and spending time in Shoshone gives me a chance to reset and reflect on what truly matters. It's a grounding experience that renews my appreciation for the natural world. - Volunteer Mina N.

The vision of the Friends of the Amargosa Basin is to connect the natural lands from Death Valley through Amargosa to Mojave Natural Preserve around a matrix of small towns that thrive with ecotourism and responsible land use for the benefit of people, especially the next generations, and for all the plants, animals, rocks, and water that live here. - Board member Janet F.
