This collective day of giving is a chance for you to show your support for the Friends of Gold Butte. We achieved an amazing goal this past year with the designation of Gold Butte National Monument. But there is more work to be done! We need to defend our monument and make our voice heard during the monument planning process. We need to build a strong corps of volunteers to complete stewardship and restoration projects in the new monument. We need to share our expertise about the cultural and natural resources through visitor interaction and education materials. Your gift of $20, $35 or even $50 will support our volunteer stewardship program, educational outreach, and advocacy efforts to ensure the responsible enjoyment of the new Gold Butte National Monument.

The Gold Butte National Monument is rich with historical, cultural, and biological resources. Native Americans called Gold Butte home for over 10,000 years. Later, the Spanish and pioneers mined the area, leaving their historic mark. Gold Butte is home to a variety of wild life including the rare and endangered desert tortoise and the big horn sheep.

We want to protect our access to Gold Butte so that future generations can enjoy it too. There are over 350 miles of designated roads in the monument, and that will not change! What will change is the availability of more resources to manage the growth of activity in Gold Butte including facilities and education.
