We proudly support the many service lines offered by Mercy Hospitals Bakersfield including Cancer Care, Orthopedic Care, Women's Care, the Family Birth Center, Neonatal Intensive Care, and the many outreach programs provided by our Department of Special Needs.

The Friends of Mercy Foundation was formally established in 1988 to support the healthcare facilities and outreach efforts of the Sisters of Mercy – who have a long history of compassionate care in the community.

The Sisters of Mercy opened Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield where they have been enhancing the quality of healthcare and reaching out to the poor and those with special needs for over one hundred years now. In 1992 the Sisters had the foresight to establish an additional hospital in the city’s southwest section, which today is the fastest growing area of Kern County. Mercy Southwest is the only hospital located west of Highway 99, making it a vital healthcare resource for our expanding community. Yet, while Mercy has grown and changed over the years, our mission and values have remained the same.

Together with our Board of Directors, physicians and other community leaders, the Friends of Mercy Foundation works to encourage public interest and support of Mercy Hospital Downtown, Mercy Hospital Southwest and our many worthy programs, services and outreach activities.
