The Front Royal Warren County Tree Stewards began in 1997 with 13 members.  Now there are over 30 active members who average over 2500 volunteer hours annually.  The town of Front Royal is celebrating 14 years as a qualified member of Tree City USA!

The organization works closely with town, county and park officials to plant and maintain the community forest.  Together they are engaged in a project; the Royal Shenandoah Greenway which is a system of paths and trails for the enjoyment of both residents and visitors alike.

Each year the organization offers the "All About Trees" course. Participants learn proper planting, pruning maintenance of trees.  The course is also a pre-requisite to becoming a Tree Steward.

Just off Front Royal's Main Street is the Happy Creek Arboretum.  The focus of the collection is on trees that thrive in the area with about 30 trees identified with both their common and scientific names.

Tree Stewards are actively involved in local festivals, events, the Farmer's Market and Arbor Day, staffing booths as an educational oppportunity to interact with the public, answer questions, and promote tree care.
