In 1995, Martha Dubensky and the Board of Directors created GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center to provide equine-related activities to improve the lives of children and adults with special needs.

GAIT is a PATH International accredited center following the high standards set by the international organization.  Employing ten specially trained horses, certified instructors and a team of wonderful volunteers, GAIT provides riding and other activies to people with special needs.

GAIT TRC serves people with the following disabilities:

ADD, Austism, Developmental Delays, Down Syndrome, Spinal Bifida, Multiple Sclerosis and others.

As a non-profit organization, GAIT relies on grants and donations to cover the costs of caring for our horses and special equipment such as wheel-chair ramps and helmets for our riders.  GAIT is unique in the fact that we also have a classroom componet led by a retired teacher who works with each rider to improve cognition and motor skills through activities such as puzzles, games and the GAIT garden.
