Gila County SOS

Our purpose is to Support Our Servicemen/ women. They are ALL our family. If they are in Afghanistan or Iraq, protecting our way of life, they deserve our help and support,{not another Vietnam}.

We are made up of residents who either have sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, parents, or friends in the Armed Services.

We have been organized since, July of 2005, thanks to Lyle Johnston, a former minister of ST. Paul's UMC, who offered us a place to store our supplies and a place to pack our boxes. We have had over 25 volunteers over the years, with 10 dedicated, loyal volunteers, at this time. As of January 2020, we have sent 10,372 care packages. Postage per box is $20 and we are currently sending 74 boxes per monthly mailing.

We have received many letters of thanks from our soldiers. They have sent us 3 US flags that have flown over Iraq soil, one of which we gave to the school students, in thanks, to display in their school, for writing letters to the soldiers.
