In February of 2024, GRHA closed on a 181-acre floodplain property; GRHA's first conservation and education area. GRHA acquired Whistling Wings Duck Club on January 15, 2025, which will become GRHA's headquarters, Conservation, and Education Center.

Some of our goals for 2025 land stewardship in the Confluence include:

  1.  Vocal opposition to development and unsound river management.
  2.  Sustained effort towards increased uptake of conservation easements.
  3.  Starting a region-wide conversation on levees, wetland protection, fill in the floodplain, and flooding of the region’s major rivers.
  4.  Conserving North America’s waterfowl and wetlands.
  5.  The development of the Jay and Carolyn Henges Wetland Conservation and Education Center to provide education, recreation, and hunting opportunities to the public.
