Galatians 6:2 is a Veteran founded tax exempt nonprofit organization. Our organization is working to reduce food insecurity in our community by operating a community food pantry. Through our mobile outreach we supply unsheltered homeless in our service area with basic needs items, assist with government benefit applications and access to resources by bringing the resources to their community. We offer support to the local low income members of our community through access to training resources and benefit application assistance. 

Our programs include mobile outreach which means we are continuously traveling around Kershaw, Richland and Lexington Counties interacting with the unsheltered homeless population determining their needs and providing them with bags of toiletries, non-perishables and food gift cards.  We also host stationary events which we call “Bless Somebody Else Day” where we set up tents, tables and chairs in close proximity of a homeless community and serve hot meals to the community. During those events give out toiletries, health items, clothing, inclement weather items, non-perishable food items and blankets. We also provide assistance with job and benefit applications. We show care and compassion for our fellow human beings and let them know they are not forgotten. 

The biggest challenges we face are staff and finances. Thanks to public generosity and small grants from local business we’ve been able to maintain a steady supply of inventory to distribute to those in needs. Our desired progression is to take food into food desert areas as well as obtain the capability to provide access to showers, daily hot meals, counseling and job assistance. Our long-term goal is to provide transitional housing.
