Mission

The Gallatin Valley Land Trust is a non-profit member organization dedicated to the conservation of open space, agricultural land, wildlife habitat and the creation of public trails in and around Gallatin County.

Programs

Land Conservation - over 24,000 acres protected in 15 years. Critical farmland and wildlife habitat in the rapidly growing community of Bozeman and its environs; a gateway community to Yellowstone National Park and part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Trails - The Main Street to the Mountains Trails Program, a partnership of many volunteer groups, but spearheaded by the Land Trust, now extends over 20 miles. This trail system provides recreational and transportation options within the city and county limits and is a critical aspect of the livability of Bozeman and its environs. The trail system has now become an integral part of the city and county 20 year growth plans, but funding and trail work still relies almost exclusively on non-governmental sources. GVLT has taken a leadership position in ensuring trails are built and maintained for the benefit of all in the community.
