OUR MISSION

The Gateway Homeless Coalition, Inc. (GHC) is a private, nonprofit organization which provides housing and supportive services for individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness in the Kentucky counties of Bath, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, and Rowan.

GHC acknowledges the impact of homelessness on individuals and families and recognizes the importance of stable housing as a basic human need. GHC provides a supportive atmosphere in which persons can rebuild their lives as they seek safe, secure housing.

 

OUR STORY

25 years ago, a concerned group of individuals came together to address the growing number of homeless persons in Rowan and surrounding counties and called themselves the Gateway Homeless Coalition. Since 1992, GHC has served individuals and families with no where else to go. At Gateway House, we are able to provide a safe, family-friendly environment where our team of case managers work with residents to help them overcome the barriers to maintaining stable housing for themselves.

Escaping homelessness is harder than it looks, and that is why Gateway House offers more than just a bed and a shower. Residents can take an extended stay, poentially up to 90 days, and their case managers will work with them to do whatever it takes to overcome the challenges keeping them from securing a safe, affordable home of their own. It is our mission to ensure that every resident has a chance to rebuild their lives the best that they can while they stay with us; this way, we can maximize our impact in addressing the issue of homelessness in our community.
