We serve over 14,000 patients annually whose needs too often go unmet by the public and private systems. 98% of patients seen are adults whose incomes are 200% below federal poverty limits. Greater Baden uses a multipronged approach to help each participant access individualized services that set them on the path toward good health. The health centers offer high quality, professional care in a safe and trusting environment to residents from the entire DC metropolitan region.

Greater Baden Medical Services, Inc. is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that was founded in 1972 in order to provide primary care services to residents of rural Prince George’s County. Services and geographic coverage have expanded with time. The organization is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, the majority of who are users of clinic services. Accredited by the Joint Commission, the system takes pride in serving communities in the metropolitan area. Our health centers are geographically dispersed throughout southern Maryland – each serving its own distinct population. From rural to urban service areas, GBMS has an established and impeccable track record of providing individualized care with a sensitive touch.

Over 300 patients in need of comprehensive HIV/AIDS care choose to make Greater Baden their medical home, and receive care from dedicated professionals committed to improving health outcomes. GBMS recently opened a new flagship building that houses our new Brandywine facility and Administrative offices at Albert Road in Brandywine, Maryland.

Operating as a Federally Qualified Health Center since 1972, Greater Baden Medical Services provides access to health care and dental services regardless of ability to pay. Learn about our sliding fee scale , which is based on income and family size. No one will be turned away because of inability to pay.

Our services include, but are not limited to: physical examinations, case management, diagnostic testing, and immunizations, well child care, pre-conception and prenatal health, dental and mental health services. As a comprehensive provider of care, GBMS has a number of programs designed to support its mission. Special programs include: homeless outreach and education, Women, Infants and Children’s (WIC) services, breast and cervical cancer screening, van transportation, HIV treatment services and case management, and migrant and seasonal farm worker outreach. GBMS recently expanded access for primary care, dental and prenatal services in our Capitol Heights and Brandywine locations. This has enabled Greater Baden to provide more resources for the indigent underserved population with such a great need in the area.

We listen closely and carefully to our clients, and then work with them to create a customized prescription of services to help them attain good physical, dental, and mental health. Because the individuals and families we serve often face multiple life challenges, we use case managers that address the many factors that lead to poor health such as poverty, limited education, and transportation barriers. By integrating and linking our own services with those offered by our community partners, we empower vulnerable families to lead healthy and productive lives.

This comprehensive approach yields results. The mothers who come to us for prenatal care deliver babies with healthy birth weights. Clients with diabetes learn to control their blood sugar levels. Parents who meet with our pediatricians increase involvement in their children’s literacy. Our web of services helps the region save millions of dollars as we prevent and manage child abuse, teen pregnancy and chronic diseases.
