Generations for Peace Inc

As of 2011, Nigeria ranked 120 out of 135 countries in the Global Gender Gap Index. Across the country, a lack of opportunities severely limits women’s abilities to demonstrate the roles they can play in national development and peace building, both at the community and national levels. 

Since 2009, Generations For Peace activities in Kaduna have engaged more than 5,000 children, youth and adults. These activities included advocacy to various stakeholders including government institutions and media, sport-for-peace activities for 350 girls in three schools and training for 180 volunteers in peace building and conflict transformation.

Building on this, we plan to conduct an Empowerment for Peace Program, which focuses on helping women realize the important role they can play as women in the prevention and transformation of conflicts; peace negotiations; peace building and reconstruction.

Over six months, ten certified Generations For Peace volunteers will facilitate ongoing empowerment for peace sessions for 40 women.

At Generations For Peace we understand the importance of empowering both men and women to lead change and build peace in their communities. We believe in their potential to be the next generation of change makers. But we cannot do this alone.
