Social Studies is what we do for the rest of our lives! Let’s help teachers build great citizens for the future by supporting the Georgia Council for the Social Studies.

Since 1964, the Georgia Council for the Social Studies (GCSS) has provided learning opportunities and resources for social studies educators and students.

The two main activities of the Georgia Council for the Social Studies are the State Social Studies Fair and the GCSS annual conference.

Hundreds of students from all over Georgia participate in local and regional fairs.  Winners of the regional fairs move to the state fair and compete for ribbons, glass plaques and prize money.

The GCSS annual conference brings together hundreds of teachers from all over Georgia to participate in concurrent sessions presented by their peers and to hear outstanding keynote speakers.  Award winning teachers are recognized for their work with a luncheon, glass plaques and monetary awards.

Throughout the year, GCSS members receive information about state, national and international learning opportunities as well as access to online learning resources.

GCSS cooperates with other social studies organizations who share similar goals.
