The German School of San Francisco was founded in 1935 and strives to provide a language learning environment in which children and adults of multicultural backgrounds experience “Sprachvergnügen,” the joy of learning the German language and the culture and traditions of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

The School strives to foster global awareness in its students and to prepare young people to be competitive in the global marketplace as well as to become critical and informed citizens in the globalized economy.

The German School of San Francisco is committed to academic excellence. It prepares students for the AATG (American Association of Teachers of German) and AP-like tests administered by the German government which enhance students’ chances of admission into German universities. Learning another language also promotes achieving excellence in their secondary school pursuits
