"What are you doing in the science fair? You are a girl.”

This phrase motivated MAGIC's founder to start the organization after her daughter faced gender-based adversity when she entered a science fair in 1st grade. A boy uttered this phrase to her daughter.

The number of girls entering the computing and high tech arena is continuing to drop, with women comprising only about 28% of the technology workforce today. And the number of girls dropping out from computing/technology, in college, is significant.

It is universally accepted that this shortage of women in technology is not due to a lack of talent, but due to a plethora of discouraging factors that exist in our society today.

MAGIC (More Active Girls In Computing) is a national mentorship program available to all middle-to-high school girls. We started the program with middle school girls to foster a positive attitude towards computing early in their academic life.

MAGIC is a 100% volunteer-run organization by women with careers in STEM. Mentorship spans both technical and interpersonal areas, including work/life balance, role of girls in our society and how that is changing, how to avoid the technology stereotype, etc.

Help empower future generations of female STEM leaders.
