Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation

Since 1976, The Bachauer has brought the world to Utah, and Utah to the world. We do this through internationally recognized piano competitions, festivals, concerts, and outreach. With the help of visionary donors, we bring the healing power of music into our fractured world.

International Competitions

These competitions – the flagship events of The Bachauer – are geared toward aspiring concert pianists ages 11-14 (Junior), 15-18 (Young Artists), and 19-30 (Artists). They provide an important stage to hone young artists' pianistic skills as they develop into seasoned professionals, exposing them to a jury of first-rate piano pedagogues, an international audience, and a community of like-minded peers. The Bachauer is known as one of the top three piano competitions in the USA, attracting over 300 applicants from dozens of countries every other year. Winning comes with considerable prestige, prize money, and the launch of a professional career.

Concert Series

Four times per year, Bachauer brings world-class concert pianists to perform solo masterpieces that span centuries and continents. Each concert features both piano repertoire and insights from the artists. We record these programs for online distribution at a later time, filmed in 4K video with multi-camera angles, including close-ups of the performers’ hands and high-quality audio.

Piano Inspirato

This educational program takes Bachauer pianists and a Steinway grand to Utah schools, reaching up to 20,000 students with outreach performances. We believe this vital program has the power to change lives by demonstrating what can be achieved through talent, practice, and commitment. Our hope is to lead younger generations to seek out the elevating, life-changing effects of beautiful music.
