Girl Flight, Inc.

Many people ask me all the time why did I establish Girl Flight, Inc. And my response is simple....I’m a mother of three girls and I want them to feel important, empowered and valued in a world that doesn’t have their best interest at heart. But I didn’t want to stop with my girls....I want ALL GIRLS to feel that way. During Girl Flight’s Soar Saturday Mentoring Sessions, we prioritize creating a safe haven for our girls/young ladies to share, learn, develop and blossom.

During our sessions, these ladies have shared their victories and hardships and trusted us enough to help them figure out what’s their next move. To be honest, these ladies inspire me to be a better woman.   Girl Flight has been deemed a “sisterhood” by our ladies.   We hope you’ll join us in ensuring that this sisterhood is always there to support and mentor them. The Founder and Executive Director, Crystal Jones-Thompson, established Girl Flight, Inc. because there aren't any youth centers or youth organizations in our community that girls can turn to for support. She decided the best way to solve this problem is to establish an organization that's designed to support, develop and transform the young girls in our community into confident, ambitious, respectful, and authentic young women.  

For the last 7 years, our “Soar Saturday” mentoring sessions have provided our girls with caring mentors from a diverse variety of professionals who are committed to teaching girls critical life and communication skills.   Every fourth Saturday, we expose our girls to a variety of things via hands-on activities focused on setting goals, etiquette, effective communication, health and wellness,self-defense, and much more -- all in a safe and welcoming environment with women who are interested in the girls’ futures.

Girl Flight has come a long way, but we still need support from our community. Due to funding, we've only been able to help and serve approximately 20 girls per year. However, we want to open the doors of Girl Flight Inc. to every girl in our community and your generous contribution will help us extend our mission to develop the next generation of female world changers.
