Empowering Girls in Waterbury—One Troop at a Time

When Maya joined a Girl Scout troop in Waterbury, she was quiet, unsure of herself, and hesitant to try new things. Her mother signed her up in hopes that she’d make friends and build confidence—but what she found in Girl Scouts was so much more.

Through hands-on experiences like STEM challenges, outdoor adventures, and community service projects, Maya discovered her voice. She learned to code her first app at a robotics workshop. She led a cleanup at a local park, realizing the power of giving back. And last year, she stood in front of a room full of people and gave a speech about her dream to become an engineer—something she never would have imagined doing before.

Right now, there are hundreds of girls in Waterbury just like Maya—waiting for their chance to discover their strengths, build lifelong skills, and feel like they belong.
