Girls on the Run of Nebraska Inc

Girls on the Run of Nebraska provides after-school programming that combines exercise, education and "girl power" to promote healthy habits and self-esteem in third- through sixth-grade girls.

Since its inception with 11 girls at Lincoln’s Pyrtle Elementary in 2003, GOTR-Nebraska has grown to serve more than 15,100 girls sites that span 500 miles across the state.

An innovative curriculum incorporates lessons on health, communication, teamwork, positivism and goal-setting with physically active games to prepare girls to complete a 5K run/walk. We hope the sense of accomplishment gained by crossing the 5K finish line is the first step toward a lifetime of health and wellness.

The program is coached by hundreds of positive-minded, can-do women who want to help girls succeed. GOTR-Nebraska coaches undergo background checks and are trained to implement the curriculum. Coaches are the heart and soul of the program and help girls turn "I think I can" into "I KNOW I can."
