Since 2012, Girls Who Code has been working to close the gender gap in computer science through our educational programs. In 2016, we will reach over 1,500 girls through our 78 Summer Immersion Programs, a free seven-week introduction to computer science hosted by partners like Twitter, Facebook, and Microsoft. Girls Who Code reaches even more students through our after-school Clubs program. As of early 2016, we operate about 500 clubs across 43 states, reaching about 8,500 students nationwide. Girls Who Code is focused not just on exposing girls to computer science, but to actually moving the needle and having our students enter the tech industry. 90% of our Summer Immersion Program alumni in college are majoring or minoring in computer science or a related discipline, and 75% report having a different intended path before Girls Who Code.
