You can Unleash the TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF MUSIC!

I am Erin Riley, founder of the Give the Gift of Music Foundation – where we endeavor to use music to address bigger issues: shyness, boredom, antisocial behavior, lack of confidence, poor self image and more. And it is working! Every single day.

I have been involved in the music scene for my entire career – most recently as the producer of the Sigma Sound Studios PA Historical Marker dedication ceremony.  You may also know me from my work as Music Director for WMMR-FM, on-air host & producer at WXPN, Executive Director of the Philadelphia Chapter of the GRAMMYs, or as owner of Rock & Roll After School, a unique & creative music school for kids.

I have witnessed the transformative power of music time and time again and that has ignited in me a mission to offer this amazing opportunity to deserving kids.

LET ME TELL YOU A STORY…

A young mom with four kids, living in a rough neighborhood south of Philadelphia was searching for something to inspire her creative son who had zero interest in team sports. Kids in her neighborhood were getting into a lot of trouble and she did not want to see her sons go down that path. A creative spirit herself, she understood the value and importance of integrating social interaction into education to develop well adjusted musicians with bright futures. This mother found a music program that understood and incorporated these values into their teaching style but struggled to be able to afford the monthly tuition. With the help of the Give the Gift of Music Foundation she was able to receive the scholarship support for her two sons to attend the program. Her two boys made the most of this opportunity and today have become real musicians who can play multiple instruments and have performed for thousands of people. Along the way they have become remarkable young men and the older son wants to become a college professor and share his love of the bass with young musicians like himself.

Without help this family could not afford to attend any music program, let alone one that focuses on the development of musicians with the potential to do anything!

I can tell you dozens of stories like this, stories of music giving more than hope, it is changing the path of at risk youth. More than that, the music programs that the Give the Gift of Music Foundation supports creates social networks where the children support one another. Kids that learn to play an instrument are happier, smarter, and spend less time on social media and Internet gaming.

Scholarships from Give the Gift of Music Foundation enable children to attend one of several acclaimed programs in the suburban Philadelphia region. http://givethegiftofmusic.org/providers.html
