Heartland Workers Center

The Heartland Workers Center develops and organizes leaders, promotes workers' rights, and fosters a culture of civic engagement in order to build power and create change with immigrant and underrepresented communities. Our training, organizing and information exchanges support Nebraskans in affecting change in communities throughout the state.

Programs
Leadership Development:
We provide education on skills that help individuals move from spectators to actors, advocating for their interests and engaging publicly with others to build collective power for change.
Our leadership development program provides mentorship opportunities and trainings on a variety of topics to support community members in promoting, protecting and defending their rights, and the rights of their families and communities.

Civic Engagement:
We encourage people to build relationships and participate in public life, developing themselves as active citizens who promote social integration and collaboration in their communities. We provide opportunities for people to be involved in public life by encouraging under-represented citizens to vote and work with others to change or improve legislation, resolutions and other forms of decision making.

Workers Rights:
We support individuals in advocating for improved labor laws and greater protections for workers. We partner with labor and government agencies, and attorneys to develop education opportunities and resources for workers. The workers we train, in turn, educate others, to promote and defend their rights.

Young Nebraskans in Action:
Young Nebraskans in Action supports young leaders' efforts to create social change for themselves, their families and their communities. We promote, increase, and implement youth participation in the public life.
