Who are the Dollies? Founded in 2020 by a small group of Dolly enthusiasts, membership in the Krewe of Dolly is open to all. As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization, the Krewe of Dolly seeks to support literacy and provide free books to every child from birth to age five in New Orleans.
What is the Imagination Library? Dolly's Imagination Library is the flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation dedicated to promoting literacy and inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to registered children. The Dollywood Foundation partners with local nonprofits to register local children to provide hand-selected, age-appropriate, high-quality books each month. Children in the program since birth build a library of 60 books by age five! As the local program partner, the Krewe of Dolly raises the funds needed to ship the books that the Dollywood Foundation sources at low cost. Your support can provide a book every month to a child, delivered right to their doorstep!
"Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is all about getting more books into the hands, hearts, and
homes of as many children as possible, and the Krewe of Dolly is leading the way here in New
Orleans," says Imagination Library of Louisiana State Director Molly Marker. "We're thrilled to
partner with the Krewe of Dolly to bring this program to Orleans Parish so every child from birth
to age five has universal access to high-quality, age-appropriate books at no cost, mailed right
to their home."
Since launching in 1995, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has become the preeminent early
childhood book-gifting program in the world.
