MWMMB's goals:

- Promote pasteurized donor human milk donation and grow our screening of potential milk donors

- Increase distribution of Pasteurized Donor Human Milk throughout Utah and Southern Idaho

- Continue to expand the number of donation centers in Utah, Southern Idaho, and the Mountain West Region

- Raise funds to build social awareness of the importance of breastfeeding in Utah and Idaho.

Brianna’s Story 

“When you have this tiny, tiny baby at such a critical state where they might not survive … I was so, so grateful for those mothers somewhere out there who donated milk that was helping my son.”

Brianna Evans and her baby, Taggert, almost died when severe hemorrhaging forced a delivery more than two months before Taggert was due. Taggert instead was given tiny amounts of milk from an MWMMB donor via a nasal-gastric tube until his mom was strong enough to provide for him. This nutrition was life-saving.

Taggert finally left the hospital at three months old and by then Evans was so accustomed to pumping seven or eight times a day that she just kept at it, producing more than her son could eat. Just after Taggert’s first birthday the family carried 13 grocery bags full – about 1,800 ounces – of milk to one of MWMMB’s milk collection depots.

MWMMB’s Current Needs

 Milk banks like MWMMB perform a critical service to the health of our community by increasing breastfeeding rates and the supply of pasteurized donor milk, something that is especially important for babies like Taggert Evans. MWMMB currently serves 25 milk collection sites and is actively engaged in opening more sites in both Utah and Idaho.
