Our mission at Giving Gardens of Indiana is to foster healthy communities by empowering individuals with the tools and knowledge it takes to produce optimum nutrition, starting from the ground up. Since 2011, we have been a 501c3 organization that provides organic fruit and vegetable seedlings, free of charge, to those willing to donate a portion of what is grown, to someone in need. Giving Gardens has donated nearly 2,500 seedlings to date, across all ages, income ranges, and levels of experience in Allen and Whitley Counties. Our organization is an educational resource to improve nutrition, physical activity, community engagement, and economic vitality for a neighborhood and its residents. Giving Gardens has partnered with the City of Columbia City, obtaining the use of 2.57 acres of city property at 479 S. Towerview Drive. We have built raised beds to grow food for local feeding programs. We have partnered with the Forklift Project, United Methodist Mid-Week Meal, and the Boomerang Backpack Program, obtaining a list of vegetables to be grown, and agreeing to provide food for these programs, free of charge.
