Our Story
The Global Tracheostomy Collaborative was founded by Dr. David Roberson, an ENT specialist at Harvard, following research which demonstrated the frequency of tracheostomy related adverse events. He contacted specialists around the world, whose enthusiastic support led to a foundational meeting.
The first organizational meeting of the Collaborative was held on July 2012 in Glasgow, Scotland. The Collaborative was approved as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization in the United States of America in June 2014. An international team of physicians, nurses, therapists, and parents are working in structured teams on the different components of the project.
Members of the Steering Committee met in April 2013 in London, England for an annual meeting. Our first official launch was held in Boston on April 26, 2014.
Our Vision
A multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, speech therapists and patients working together to disseminate best practices and improve outcomes around tracheostomy care.
