GLSEN Massachusetts

A nonprofit organization

In 1990, a small, but dedicated group of teachers in Massachusetts came together to improve an education system that frequently allowed its lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students to be bullied, discriminated against and/or fall through the cracks. Almost 25 years later, GLSEN Massachusetts continues to focus on ensuring safe and supportive K-12 environments for all.

Through training and technical assistance, GLSEN Massachusetts works throughout the Commonwealth to advance important LGBTQ issues in schools by focusing on a variety of areas, including: becoming fully inclusive of transgender students; addressing the multiple challenges confronting LGBTQ students of color and adopting model policies and programs.

GLSEN Massachusetts is in a significant time of advancement and growth:

  • With statewide attendance of over 350 people, our Annual Spring Conference continues to meaningfully engage students and educators in professional development and training to create safe and supportive learning environments.
  • The GLSEN Massachusetts Educator Retreat now draws over 75 participants for a weekend of learning and community-building in Provincetown.
  • The Annual Fall Conference in Western Massachusetts, a first time event in 2013, brought together over 225 people for a day-long focus on LBGTQ inclusion in the Western part of the state.

Your ongoing support of GLSEN Massachusetts allows us to continue our critical programming throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
