Go Kids, Inc. was established in 1975 when it was awarded a grant from the city of Morgan Hill to provide early childhood education training to unemployed women from low-income backgrounds. Since its incorporation as a nonprofit in 1978, the agency budget and service area has continued to grow. Go Kids is now headquartered in Gilroy, and provides services in the quad-county region of Santa Clara, San Benito, Monterey and Santa Cruz. The agency’s budget now exceeds 19 million and we have a long history of diverse funding that has included financial support from the California Department of Education (CDE), United Way, various Foundations, and the First 5 Commission in each of the counties we serve. We envision communities where every child has the support they need to reach their greatest potential. The mission of Go Kids is to enhance the lives of children and families through the delivery of comprehensive child development services and community involvement.
Within San Benito County, Go Kids operates two licensed center-based facilities. San Benito Child Development Center provides a full day preschool program for 48 children while the R.O. Hardin center offers a part day preschool experience to 32 children and afterschool programming for 56 school-age children. Some families prefer to receive services through a licensed family child care home, private licensed child care center, or a license-exempt caregiver and Go Kids provides access to these services as funding allows, currently serving nearly 300 children across the county. In addition, the agency serves as the child care Resource and Referral agency for the County and manages 5 different state subsidized child care contracts for low income families in San Benito County.
