Goat in the Road Productions (GRP) is an ensemble-led force for storytelling, dedicated to unearthing the untold narratives of our New Orleans communities. We create dynamic original plays and provide a vital stage for the city's youngest creators.

The Play/Write Legacy: 17 Years of Student Voices

We are raising funds for our award-winning educational programming, now entering its 18th year of transforming classrooms into creative hubs. Through Play/Write, we reach over 2,500 students across Greater New Orleans. Our professional teaching artists provide year-round, in-school instruction that empowers every student to write their own original play.

• Published: Every script is professionally bound and published.

• Produced: A selection of plays are staged by local professional companies in a high-energy Showcase for families and the public.

• Toured: Our Goat in the Schools program brings student-written plays back to the community, performing for an additional 2,000 students annually.

Beyond the classroom, GRP crafts exhilarating original theater that tackles the social issues defining our time. We use the lens of the past to illuminate the present—like our recent premiere, 'Carlota', a music-infused exploration of the deep cultural ties between Cuba and the Gulf South.
