Golden Empire Gleaners

The Golden Empire Gleaners is a non-profit food bank operating for 31 years in Kern County.

Our Mission is to help alleviate hunger by collecting and distributing food that might otherwise go to waste.

We are currently feeding 15,000 needy children, low-income seniors, families in crisis, people who are ill, disabled, homeless or unemployed.  We work with over 200 agencies including schools, senior centers, churches, other non-profit organizations, and government agencies

We do not receive any government funding.  All operating costs are paid for by donations and grants from individuals, businesses and organizations.  All food is donated by growers, packers, food processors, grocers, individuals and community food drives. 

We employ only 2 full-time and 2 part-time employees and coordinate about 150 volunteer shifts per week.  We are debt free and own our property and equipment, therefore no donations go to service debt.

The Golden Empire Gleaners welcomes your financial support and volunteer efforts.  Volunteers serve in all positions including drivers, warehousing, sorting and bagging food, assembling boxes, office work, cooking, and staffing special events and fundraisers.
