As way of background, Goldwell Open Air Museum has been in operation as a nonprofit since 2000 and welcomes over 100,000 visitors a year from all over the world to its 15-acre sculpture park near Death Valley National Park. The Museum was named one of six statewide treasures by popular vote in the "Discover Your Nevada Treasure" campaign of the Nevada Commission on Tourism last year.

Since 2007, Goldwell has provided 95 emerging and mid-career professional artists and artist teams from across the nation with month-long supported residencies to create new work inspired by the Nevada desert. These artists come from a variety of disciplines including visual artists, composers, and filmmakers and work out of our 2,500 sq. ft. Red Barn Art Center near the ghost town of Rhyolite.

The work we have supported has been debuted in major venues across the country and has brought a national spotlight on arts activity in Nevada.

Our core team is comprised of experienced artists and educators who are motivated to make this kind of artist workspace flourish for the benefit of all visual artists in Southern Nevada.

We need your help now to keep this space open. Any size gift will help us reach our matching goal of $15,000 through Nevada's Big Give.
