Good Counsel was started in 1985 by Christopher Bell and Rev. Benedict Groeschel, CFR, to address the many homeless pregnant, and parenting women and children in New York. We have 4 homes in NY and 1 in NJ, offering not only shelter but ongoing counseling, facilitating medical assistance, including prenatal care, delivery and after delivery. Good Counsel provides LIfe Skills program so the moms can learn how to budget money, parenting skills, and strive for educational and vocational achievements. The women can stay at Good Counsel until they have a job and their own apartments.
