What makes Good Luck Macbeth different from other local Theatre companies?  Our storied history reflects a company overcoming numerous hurdles to be successful in providing the Reno theatre community with a new perspective on classic and modern works.  We began performing out of the First United Methodist Church in 2008; early on we cultivated a durable work ethic, where we had to set up and tear down the set after every show, hefting flats, props, and heavy furniture upstairs to our office, and then moving the pews and altar back into place.  We kept putting on shows and persevered, opening the "Good Luck Macbeth Theatre" in downtown Reno in 2010.  Despite limited exposure to Reno locals, our demographic, we stayed in continual production through 2012.  In September, 2012, we moved our operations down the street into Reno's burgeoning Midtown district, where we would be able to better serve the people for which our organization was built.

As a company, GLM prides itself upon producing socially relevant works of today’s generation while reevaluating the roots of our experience; as such, diversity of genre, time period, age, gender, race, sexual orientation, and culture is of utmost importance when planning our main stage.  We feel that variety on all fronts—format, show selection, design, and presentation distinguishes GLM as a Theatre company and goes hand in hand our storytelling theme and approach to staging works of art.  We run on the strength of a core group of artists as well as in-kind donations from front of house volunteers, production crewmembers, and the generosity of our patrons.

GLM’s Midtown Theatre serves patrons in the greater Reno area, and we operate as a multi-use venue, sharing our space with a variety of Theatre groups and artists.  Examples include Artemisia Movie House, the Merry War Theatre Company, Utility Players Improv comedy, Spoken Views, and many others. We believe heightened diversity of output brings not only added exposure but connections to underrepresented points of view and ideological perspectives. GLM’s long-term vision is to create a vibrant arts culture that increases the quality of life in Midtown and enhances Reno’s artistic output.
