I once read an article that if we opened every abandoned house in America, that there would be a home for every person that lives on the street.  I don’t know if that is true or not, but I know that our solution is to offer housing for veterans, seniors and disabled adults on low fixed incomes, the program can be transitional or long term, dependent upon the individual’s needs.  We have transitioned people in less than a year, we have residents who have lived here longer than a decade.  The Good Samaritan Home is designed to meet the needs of the individual where he or she is at.  For example, Daniel, he moved in two days ago, you should have seen his face when he ate his first breakfast at Home, fried potatoes, eggs and toast, that picture will last a long time in my head, but the words he said right after lunch, those were priceless.  “I didn’t sleep the best last night, but for the first time in a very long time, I slept in a bed with a roof over my head and a door that closes.”  Wow, simple words from a simple man, who finally has, simply come Home.
