Good Fly

Our Vision is Emotionally Healthy Communities. We offer free-one day casting workshops for the first responder community as a toll to reduce stress and anxiety. The art of fly casting has long been known to reduce stress and anxiety. The rhythmic meditative-like cadence of the casting stroke, and the required focus, are naturally therapeutic. This emotional good health extends to close family, co-workers, and those they touch. Good Fly - "Casting Flies to Renew the Mind and Refresh the Spirit."

Good Fly was formed out of a drive to do good for our community through the use of Fly Casting and Fly Fishing. Having been involved with other non-profits such as Reel Recovery and Project Healing Waters, we witnessed the efficacy of the sport in reducing stress and anxiety. We also recognized that there were many people in our society who through their life situation or occupation lived with prolonged stress.  

Good Fly offers free, one-day Fly Casting and Fly-Fishing Workshops to the First Responder Community to develop another tool in their arsenal to combat the stress of their profession.  
We recognize that first responders touch the lives of so many of our society, that if they had a way to shed some of the burden they carry, it could affect the emotional health of our entire community.  We utilize willing Certified Casting Instructors in each region that we expand into as the core of the instruction crew. The workshops give the Certified Casting Instructor family a place to use their hard-earned skills, give back to their communities, and benefit from the camaraderie of their peers.
