Goodfellow Shoe Fund

A nonprofit organization

The Goodfellow Shoe Fund is an all volunteer organization whose mission is to provide quality shoes and 2 pair of socks to a child 2 to 18 years whose parent or guardian applies and is in need. Last year the fund celebrated 77 years of service to Lincoln County. Over 40 volunteers worked to provide shoes to 400 children in Lincoln County this year. The cost of each pair of shoes is capped at $80. All funds received are used to purchase shoes for children in need.

In December 1947, representatives of five North Platte organizations met and saw a need to help school children have good footwear to be comfortable and ready to learn.
The all volunteer Goodfellow Shoe Fund continues this service today.
Two local shoe stores have trained staff who strive to fit each child correctly. The Sports Shoppe and Browns Shoe Fit work with a Goodfellow volunteer to serve each family. Applications for shoes can be picked up at the North Platte Public Library at 120 West 4th, North Platte. The application is returned to the library. A Goodfellow volunteer contacts the parent or guardian to buy the footwear. Each child also receives 2 pair of socks. Our goal this year is to buy 500 pairs of shoes for Lincoln County children in need. All funds are donated by individuals , organizations or businesses and can be made to honor someone or in memory of a loved one.

Testimonials

Frequently the fund receives donations from people who have received shoes or their children received shoes when the need was great in their life. This testament inspires the Goodfellow Shoe fund volunteers to continue this service.
