Good Karma Bikes

A nonprofit organization

Serving 3,000 clients each year with repairs, service, parts and granted bicycles, Good Karma Bikes is not about bicycles. It is about social impact, community service, self-esteem building and a second chance. We do more than give underserved people safe, reliable bicycle transportation; we help people on their road to recovery.

Your donation supports:

  • No-cost bicycle repair clinics for any client, both at the GKB shop and various partner homeless facilities.
  • No-cost rehabilitated bicycle “grantings” to safety-net clients.
  • Free LGBTQ+ and Women's Bike Repair Nights
  • Youth Holiday bicycle granting in partnership with Sacred Heart Community Services.
  • Good Karma Kids Clinics and children’s bicycle granting.
  • Connections to safety net services like supportive housing, refugee resettlement, and winter coats.

The "pay it forward" spirit is strong at Good Karma Bikes. Many clients return each week to work as volunteers learning bicycle repair and helping others. There are some homeless volunteers who have acquired enough experience in certain skills to teach others basic bicycle mechanics. For clients, this is a terrific self-esteem boost, as well as an avenue to future employment and increased self-sufficiency.

Since January 2010, GKB has provided more than $2.6M in Community Aid in the form of free bikes, parts and service. We have granted over 9,000 bicycles through the efforts of over 150 volunteers donating more than 120,000 hours.

Your generosity supports so many. Read their stories: https://goodkarmabikes.org/donor-impact-stories/
