Granite State News Collaborative

A nonprofit organization

Trusted Local News. Stronger Communities. A More Connected New Hampshire.

Local news is how your community sees itself, solves problems, and stays empowered.

At the Granite State News Collaborative (GSNC), our mission is to help local journalists go further, faster. To do together what no one outlet could do alone.

Why It Matters

Local reporters are tracking school board decisions, attending town meetings, and telling the stories that matter most. Thanks to collaboration, their work goes further—reaching more people and deepening public understanding.

These journalists are the heroes of our democracy. GSNC exists to support them—by connecting more than 20 outlets and providing the tools and support they need to thrive.

Our Impact So Far

  • 2,200+ reprinted, shared stories annually—equivalent to adding 10 full-time reporters to New Hampshire’s news ecosystem and expanding access to trusted local reporting.

  • Dozens of reporters and trained community members supported through programs like Civic Documenters

  • Tools and systems that make collaboration stronger and more efficient

But There’s Still More to Do

Too many communities still lack consistent local coverage.

Too many people are disconnected from the information they need to make decisions and be heard.

And the national issues we care about most—education, climate, healthcare, civil rights—are being decided at the local level. If you want to make a difference, it starts by knowing what’s happening in your community. And that starts with local news.

What We’re Working Toward

  • Connecting with people who haven’t had reliable access to news

  • Supporting more reporters in more communities

  • Innovating how and where local news is delivered

  • Rebuilding trust and bridging divides through shared information

We believe a brighter, more connected information future is possible—one where every resident has access to the news they need to make informed decisions, build stronger communities, and protect our democracy.

Join us.
