When a child is critically ill, it takes a physical, mental and emotional toll on them and their whole family. Siblings are sidelined by the focus on treatments, and parents are forced to hide their own heartbreak and cope with the trauma and isolation they feel. In addition, the situation also puts many families in financial distress, reducing their ability to provide even the simplest of enjoyment.

In the middle of all this relentless pain, heartbreak and fear, Make-A-Wish offers hope. A wish come true creates lasting positive memories and empowers a sick child to fight harder for the future. They also allow the whole family to bond once again around a joyous occasion.

A wish improves the quality of life for the child and the whole family. Doctors also report that it enhances their social, mental and physical health, often providing a turning point in their battle. Over 70% of doctors and parents observe an improvement in the child’s health status after a wish, and over 85% observe an improvement in a child’s emotional well-being.
